Skincare

After working for over a decade and a half in the industry as a skilled esthetician, Christina Graci knows what she's doing when it comes to taking care of our skin this summer. Help is on the way for all the continued mask wearing, clogging of our pores in warmer weather - see below for some simple but super effective steps. We realized diligently washing our hands for 20 seconds or more is a ritual we can also apply to our faces - double cleansing!

JAM: What is your advice on taking care of our faces while we continue to wear masks in hotter weather?

Christina: During summer time, since we're wearing sunscreen, double cleansing is essential. I would say that is the main thing. The first cleanse removes sunscreen and the second removes dirt, oil and impurities.

JAM: Take time to cleanse properly and then what next?

Christina: Use toner, face mist to dampen skin so that your products absorb better and in turn are much more effective.

JAM: Do we still need to moisturize if we're nervous about clogging pores?

Christina: Yes, to replenish what might've been lost from being in the sun, put on your favorite hydrating moisturizer. Masking twice a week with something purifying, detoxifying using products with gentle acids to remove dead skin cells is also important. BHA's (beta hydroxy acids) that work below the skin's surface like salicylic acid is very good.

JAM: What is your favorite sunscreen?

Christina: Mine is Super Goop. They have so many formulas, textures and options for different skin types, colors - it has been my go to for years.

JAM: Thank you, Christina!

Dedicated to dad

Thank you to my dad for his unwavering love, support and admiration - for building the solid foundation in which I have had the privilege of joining and allowing me to believe in myself, teaching me to do my best, reach for the top and always keep learning. Memorial day will be his memorial now. I love you, dad. Thank you to my family, Imogen, Jeremy, for always being by my side, for your love, support and for making my life so full and fun.
