Moment of Good

spending time

While we have featured worthy, exemplary, organized charities we care about who are making a difference in our communities and beyond in past issues, this "Moment of Good" is a reminder for the opportunity to simply share with loved ones. Whether it's FaceTime, virtual games, meal deliveries, homemade gifts, snail mail or socially distanced conversations and whether it's with family, friends new and old, neighbors, or even random strangers in need of attention - it's nice to remember spending time to connect, to give a moment of oneself to someone else for no reason at all except to be there (the best we can right now).

One more moment of good: zero waste or at least, re-purpose. At a recent weekly visit to our local farmers market, we were next to someone using canvas bags galore. We thought we had the reusable bag handling down but realized some of our loose veggies and berries were still being wrapped in plastic. If there's ever a time to cut back on single use plastic, now that we are in a new norm lifestyle with next level usage of masks, gloves, tests, take out containers, utensils, delivery bags, boxes, individually wrapped everything for necessary sanitation purposes - it's nice to be reminded of whatever we can do to cut back wherever that might be. A long time ago, our house stopped buying plastic water bottles, plastic straws, but now we're using even more re-usable canvas baggies (and multiple sized glass/metal containers) in smaller sizes to eliminate throw away plastic whenever possible - the investment is well worth balancing out consumption waste and helping our planet.
