Skin Care

How to take care of and calm our skin when sweaty pores get clogged under all this committed, long-time face mask wearing sometimes causing the inevitable breakouts. Here are some mindful steps and suggestions from our JAM pro.

JAM: Hi Christina (Graci)! Some of us are now experiencing new breakouts from wearing face masks. What can we do to help?

CG: Experiencing new breakouts on your cheeks, nose and chin from wearing your face covering? The term for this is MASKNE and lots of us are going through it at the moment.

JAM: Can you share a few easy tips to protect, prevent and treat breakouts in those areas?

CG: In order to keep the area being covered clean, I suggest not wearing makeup on the lower half of your face. Wash your mask frequently or use a new disposable mask daily. Spraying an antimicrobial face mist (I like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir) into your mask daily will freshen up and kill bacteria on your face.

JAM: What can we do for breakouts?

CG: To treat any active breakouts, incorporate products with salicylic acid, that will help fight blemishes and use a mask to purify the skin a couple times a week. Be sure to wash your face thoroughly at night time as well.
